Run by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department from the Theppakadu reception, the official safari takes you through part of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve — part of the Nilgiri Biosphere — in a department van or jeep. Expect herds of spotted deer and gaur, elephants, peacocks and, for the fortunate, leopard or tiger.
