Madras Regimental Centre Museum
On the Madras Regimental Centre campus at Wellington, this army-run museum traces the story of the Madras Regiment — among the oldest infantry regiments in the Indian Army — through weapons, medals, uniforms, flags and battlefield records, alongside a memorial to its fallen.
History
The Madras Regiment traces its lineage back to the 18th century, making it one of the oldest infantry regiments in the Indian Army. The museum gathers its colours, campaign medals, vintage and captured arms, uniformed figures, photographs and war diaries, charting the regiment's service from colonial times to the present day.
A war memorial on the campus honours the soldiers of the Regiment who fell in service — making the visit as much an act of remembrance as a history lesson.
